Episode 17 is a brief and fascinating exploration of the basic ideas of Gnosticism. Chris and I talk about the introduction to Manly P. Hall's amazing book The Wisdom of the Knowing Ones.. The first portion of the book is a concise overview of Gnostic ideas written by a dear friend and colleague of the late Mr. Hall, Dr. Stephan Hoeller, Bishop of the Gnostic Church in Los Angeles. Some of the ideas and subjects we cover in this episode include: Nag Hammadi and the Gnostic Gospels, The Golden Thread or Golden Chain of the Ageless Wisdom, Hermetic Philosophy, Gnosticism and connections to the Cathars, Rosicrucians, Knights Templars, Freemasons, Theosophy, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, etc. We contrast the doctrine/dogma of the Christian Church with the inner focus and Gnosis oriented vision of the Christian Gnostics. We look at the 3 types of humans and the connection to the Indian idea of the 3 Gunas.
