Caroline Flint is a midwife, birth activist, author and founder of The Birth Centre. Her defining moment came at 8 years old with the birth of her sister at home which sparked a lifelong commitment to providing women with empowering, life-changing births. In 1989 she opened The Birth Centre which specialised in one on one midwifery care, with dark, peaceful birthing rooms and a midwifery team who treated birth as a positive, normal, physiological process. Caroline has been at the forefront of all changes affecting women in childbirth. She was President of The Royal College of Midwives, she is a founder member of the Association of Radical Midwives and the first Chair of the Midwives Information and Resource Service. — Recorded live at the global event in Cardigan, west Wales in 2011.
