The Hoosier Sound | IU Sports Podcast

Nov 25 2020 34 mins 30

We are the official podcast of IndianaHQ. Our mission and goal is simple: we want to bring in-depth analysis and coverage for Indiana University sports to as many fans as possible across a multitude of modern platforms. "The Hoosier Sound" was founded in 2017 by Noah Freeman and Matt Lukens who had a passion for all IU sports. The guys wanted to give listeners analysis of programs such as Indiana basketball, Indiana football, Indiana soccer, Indiana women's basketball, Indiana baseball, Indiana swim and dive, and more. We also do a daily IU sports news roundup called "Hoosier Sound-Off."

Big Ten to Conference-Only Schedule in Fall [150]
Jul 15 2020 52 mins
Big news came down last week that the Big Ten (closely followed by the Pac-12) opted to move to a conference-only schedule for all fall sports of 2020. Every Big Ten fall sports program in 2020 will be facing opponents within the same conference, eliminating non-conference scheduling across the country. This is a response to COVID-19, as football season is rapidly approaching and national cases are starting to climb for a second time. How does this change affect the Hoosier football team for 2020? Although the announcement was made, there are still a lot of details to figure out, so how might the schedule specifically look when the season possibly starts in a month and a half?Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound • Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-hoosier-sound-iu-sports-po-1122885

Sports and COVID-19 Updates [144]
Jun 03 2020 63 mins
The calendar has turned to June and the country is now taking steps in order to start to get back to normal. COVID 19 has affected us all and if you are a collegiate sports fan, sports have looked entirely different since mid-March. As states start to slowly reopen, colleges are starting to implement their own reopening policies. This week, the guys go into multiple topics of conversation on what these plans could look like for Indiana University sports and how they start to reopen school and sports. What could this look like? When might Indiana University start to give the public details about these steps? Lastly, the guys talk about the overall impact this has had and will have on collegiate sports. What might football look like in the fall? How has this affected schools and sports? Lots of great conversation as we all try and progress with our new 'normal' in life.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound • Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-hoosier-sound-iu-sports-po-1122885

Khristian Lander Reclassifies [142]
May 20 2020 60 mins
It's official! 5-star PG Khristian Lander has officially reclassified to the Class of 2020. Lander is a graduating junior in high school who was supposed to go into his final year of high school this coming fall. After extra work and paperwork to the NCAA, Khristian finished high school early, graduated, and will be attending Indiana University in the fall as a 17-year-old freshman in college. What does the reclassification mean for the Hoosier team next year? How will he fit into the program? How will his age and youth effect his play on the court? This week, the guys discuss all of those questions and more on an episode all about the "new" recruit Indiana has for this fall.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound • Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-hoosier-sound-iu-sports-po-1122885

KHRISTIAN LANDER TO INDIANA [130]
Feb 26 2020 69 mins
MID-PODCAST the commitment comes out from Khristian Lander that he is committing to Indiana. Absolute HUGE week for the Hoosiers. Last week, we discussed how 1-1 against Minnesota and Penn State would be ideal, and not many people expected the Hoosiers to win BOTH games. Indiana got a Q1-win on the road against Minnesota as well as a statement victory over No. 9 Penn State for their second straight Q1 victory. The guys talk about how the Hoosiers are now firmly back in the tournament discussion with two big victories. There is still work to do, but everyone can momentarily breath a sign of relief. What do the Hoosiers need to do now in order to finish the season strong and not hold their breath on Selection Sunday? Then, we discuss how big of a commitment this is for the Hoosiers and Archie Miller.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

A Michigan Perspective on IUBB with Ant Wright [129]
Feb 19 2020 61 mins
The Hoosiers broke their losing streak this past week by defeating #21 Iowa in Bloomington to get back to winning. They broke their four game losing streak on a night where Devonte Green had another big game. However, the winning did not last as the Hoosiers yet again could not play consistently on the road. The guys are joined by former Wolverine, Anthony Wright who hosts "A Michigan State of Mind" podcast to discuss Indiana vs. both Michigan's recently. They get a Michigan perspective on the game, as well as a former player's perspective on how this Indiana team is producing this season and what might be causing the inconsistencies. A fresh look from a non-Indiana fan is what this week's podcast is all about.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Can the Hoosiers Salvage the Season, or onto the Next? [128]
Feb 12 2020 59 mins
4-game losing streak, but that seems like the least of this Hoosier basketball team's problems. A day day built with much anticipation, the Hoosiers played like they have been most of the season and lost another crucial home game. On the other hand, there was one major event that took place over the weekend we can focus on. After 20 years, former Coach Bob Knight came back to Assembly Hall for the first time with the 1979-1980 team. The guys talk about another frustrating performance against the Boilermakers, as well as the bigger news with Knight's return. They turn that discussion into a bigger one, is this season lost? Or is there a way for the team to turn it around to find themselves playing in the big dance. Not only will their play have to improve, but they now have to find victory on the road.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Home Games are Important [127]
Feb 05 2020 47 mins
Tough week for the Hoosier mens program as they went on the road, twice, to face Penn State and Ohio State. They did not play as well as they had been the previous two weeks, and lost their third straight game against Ohio State this past Saturday. With how the Hoosiers played, we can take one major factor from this week: home games are important. The Hoosiers are still 15-7 overall, and need at least 5 more victories to feel comfortable about breaking the NCAA Tournament streak of not playing in the big dance in March. Five more home games, four more road games. Win the home games, you reach the minimum goal for the season. Can the Hoosiers ever play well on the road this season? Will they be able to get those five victories in the final nine regular-season games? Lots of discussion to be had after a three-game losing streak.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Trending in the Right Direction [126]
Jan 29 2020 59 mins
What a week of nail-biting performances from the Hoosier basketball team. In a year where home-court is especially important in the Big Ten, despite having two tough opponents in Assembly Hall this week, they needed to come away win at least one victory. If it were not for a crazy last minute by Maryland, the Hoosiers would have won an improbable two games this week. Despite the last few seconds of a loss to Maryland most recently, the Hoosiers did come from behind to take the lead and they beat the best in the conference, Michigan State. The Hoosiers are at least trending in the right direction and cutting down on their more poorer performances. The guys talk about the two recent games and how this team is now progressing. The Hoosiers have two roads games coming up this week and what do the Hoosiers need to do or keep doing to get into the tournament?Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

How IUBB Can Get to 20 Wins and Go Dancing [125]
Jan 22 2020 59 mins
The men's basketball program started their week of basketball by falling to Rutgers on the road in another game of poor shooting. They followed that performance up, however, by scoring most points then they have in one and a half months to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road. The Hoosiers now have only one of seven road victories in conference play. Road victories are hard to come by this season, no matter who the opponent is. The guys breakdown the important victory before going into how the Hoosiers can get to 20 wins on the season. It is believed that 20 wins is the number to get in order to break the three year streak of not participating in the NCAA Tournament. Where can Indiana pick up six or more victories?Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Gator Bowl Preview and Basketball Woes [122]
Dec 31 2019 54 mins
It's finally Bowl Week! The football Hoosiers will take on the Tennessee Volunteers this week in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday. The guys preview the first January bowl game in a long time and what the Hoosiers need to do to come away with a victory and their first bowl win since 1991. After discussion on the last football game of the 2019 football season for the Hoosiers, the guys switch over to a more somber topic as of recent, Indiana basketball. The Hoosiers could not close out their game against Arkansas at home, losing 71-64 and falling to 11-2 on the season to close out the non-conference schedule. Where should the blame go for this loss? Is this a sign of more to come, or can this team start to find their way as the competition gets harder and harder? Recalibrating the 19-20 Hoosiers, Fred Glass, and Football OC [120]
Dec 18 2019 58 mins
As both Hoosier basketball programs are 10-1 going into the third week of December, there is a lot to talk about. The men's program is coming off of a loss, followed by two questionable wins. Is this something fans should panic about, or wait to see how the team might respond? It's hard not to think of losing 11 of 12 games last year and think the worst, but should fans be judging this current team compared to last year's team? How should fans judge this team, who still have 10 wins in their first 11 games, with the one loss going to Wisconsin on the road? The guys discuss the most recent game against Nebraska and how it has compared to the last three games, and then compared to last year and if fans should panic or wait and see how they respond. What do you think? Then, news broke that Fred Glass is retiring and Kalen Deboer is expected to be named the next head coach at Fresno State.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

FSU VICTORY, 8 Win Football, and Bowl Projections [118]
Dec 05 2019 70 mins
The football team closed out their regular season with a victory over Purdue this past weekend, winning in Double Overtime, 44-41. The team reached eight (8) victories for the eighth time in program history and now have a chance to tie their all-time most victories with a bowl game victory. In many ways, this is the best season for the football program since 1993. The guys talk about where the football team is right now and bowl projections on where Indiana could land in late December/early January. After lots of exciting football talk, the guys go into the recent game the basketball team had over the #17 Florida State. Many argued the Hoosiers aren’t good because they hadn’t played anyone, but the team put that notion to rest as they defeated Florida State to put them on the national map.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Undefeated Basketball and the Oaken Bucket [117]
Nov 27 2019 55 mins
The football team did not have the best game against #13 Michigan this past weekend, losing 39-14. Although extremely injured, Michigan pulled away in the 3rd quarter, and the guys will break down the now 7-4 Hoosiers. Next, both men’s and women’s basketball programs have started out strong. The guys will discuss the most recent game against Louisiana Tech and look ahead to South Dakota State and Florida State. Finally, the football team has their final game of the regular season against Purdue this Saturday for the Old Oaken Bucket. The Hoosiers will already be playing in late December/early January, but the Hoosiers look to go 8-4 for the first time since 1993 and get more on their resume for a better bowl game.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • Apple Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound • Podcast Addict: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Deezer: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ

Penn State and Troy Recaps, a Michigan Preview, and IUMS [116]
Nov 20 2019 68 mins
The football team lost a close game to Penn State on the road this past weekend, but made it a close game all the way to the final minute. It was a big game that the Hoosiers stayed close, but ultimately lost their 3rd game on the season. Later that evening, the men's basketball team dominated the Troy Trojans in Assembly Hall. In a game that was fun to watch, the Hoosiers played their best basketball on the season in their opening four games. This past Sunday, the men's soccer team took on Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament Championship, and won their 14th tournament. Lastly, in a busy week of sports, the football program has their biggest home game of the season against Michigan coming up this Saturday, and the guys will preview the matchup against the Wolverines.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

The guys break down Mike Roberts as the new assistant coach before moving onto football. College football is finally back!
