Fly Fish Ohio presents the Shannon's Streamer!

Apr 20 2011 8 mins   13
Welcome to the show for December 2010. That's Season 5, Episode 12 if you're keeping track. Our fly today is a simple killer for smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie and perch. I've got no doubt it can wreak havoc on minnow-eating white bass, stripers and trout, too! This is Shannon's Streamer, a pattern from Rich McElligott of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance, and it's a dandy! Designed to imitate a Yamamoto Senko or Shade Shape Worm, this is the fly fisher's equivalent of a dead-stick bait. You'll need to carry these in your kit if your heading out to any warm water destination. It's about as productive a patterns as we've ever seen!
