Today we have a conversation with Gregg Beckham, a Senior Research Fellow at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Gregg received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 2007 and has gone on to pursue specialized research in energy and environmental applications toward sustainable energy and environmental pollution remediation.

As the Chief Consecutive Officer of the BOTTLE Consortium at NREL, Gregg is heading up the research on the management, recycling, and upcycling of plastics. The vision for BOTTLE is to “deliver technologies that will incentivize the reclamation of waste plastics to enable a circular plastics economy”.

Tune in now to hear Gregg discuss:

  • What upcycling, downcycling, and recycling really mean.
  • The importance of coming up with efficient and sustainable recycling methods.
  • How developing products that are “recyclable by design” can mitigate plastic waste.
  • The regulatory components that make up what “virgin” plastic is.

How are professionals finding inventive ways to take care of our environment? Join us now to find out!
