EU Commission head, Ursula von der Leyen, has apologized to Italy for the disastrous response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Von der Leyen rolled out the idea for a new financial package to subsidize salaries at companies struggling, called SURE, which would provide a total of €100 billion in loans to EU member states to prevent massive lay-offs. Is it enough, or has the EU reached the point of no return as the entire system collapses?
