Six Flags may have more rollercoasters, but it’ll never beat the happiest place on earth — Skyler Sorensen (@_skyler_austin_) May 25, 2020 Skyler and Amanda met in their YSA Family Home Evening group near the end of 2016. They dated from the beginning of 2017 until they got engaged in November of 2017 and married March of 2018. Skyler confided in Amanda while they were dating that he experienced a conflict within his faith and sexuality, since he was gay but had always planned on marrying a woman and staying in the chruch. Amanda asked a lot of questions and ultimately decided that she wasn’t ready to call quits on their relationship. They reside now in Orem, Utah as Skyler finishes his Film degree at BYU and Amanda pursues her Social Work degree at UVU. They work together at a family-run home service company in the dispatch office. Their love continues to mature as they deal with the death of their premature son, Milo and the nuances of love and marriage. They hope their story of child loss and mixed-orientation marriage can act as a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with something similar.
