Guilford County Legislature Town Hall #VoterID is needed in #NorthCarolina .@NCGOP .@GuilfordGOP .@greensboro On Nov 6th, 2018 there were many constitutional amendments that WE THE PEOPLE voted on including the Amendment to Require Voters to Provide Photo Identification Before Voting in Person. In my opinion, this was the SINGLE most important amendment that North Carolina citizens voted on. The election results showed that a majority of North Carolina Citizens voted FOR Voter ID In my opinion, requiring voters to prove their identity by showing a photo ID when voting is simply a measure to ensure that people aren’t misrepresenting themselves when voting. Sadly there is the continuing argument over if Voter ID is needed for security vs the opponents who claim voter suppression, and the myth of racism as related to voting. There are over 30 states that have photo ID laws. Please help me understand how a photo ID is racist? Do opponents of this law want me to think that people of color aren’t smart enough to get a photo ID? Everyone of any color has a photo ID for MANY purposes. So, let me ask you. You need an ID to go to the hospital, to cash a check, or sometimes use a credit card, to get food stamps and other welfare, to buy a Lottery Ticket, to pick up drugs at a drug store, to get in a Nightclub, to purchase alcohol and cigarettes, and to get a JOB, is that racist? I myself, I HATE racism, but to water down the term racism and attach it to Voter ID laws is an injustice and serves the movement to END racism NO justice. So Honestly, in this age of NC legislature and government, stressing over “Gerrymandering” and so-called VOTER fraud in elections. Would it NOT make sense to at least secure our votes with a Valid Voter ID identification system? WE THE PEOPLE deserve a FAIR, HONEST, and SECURE election system, Voter ID is Key to this. Everyone needs an ID, and everyone has a way and time to get one. If you can do all the other things I mentioned with an ID, then you seriously should have one to vote. I refuse as a citizen of the great state of North Carolina to let one single judge think his personal partisan opinion and decision is going to negate the Will of WE THE PEOPLE who have SPOKEN and want this Amendment. Furthermore, one judge cannot justify calling this vote VOID due to the so-called “Gerrymandered” voting districts, because the catch is if that held true the great work of both sides of the political fence in the last few years would all be found null and void. This would do more harm than good to this state. So, I urge as a representative of the citizens of North Carolina who voted YES on voter ID that we LISTEN to the will of the people and put VOTER ID in our Constitution with great haste.
