Ancient Sicilian proverbial wisdom says "Quannu u diavulu t'alliscia voli l'arma" which means "If the devil pays you compliments, he wants your soul". In other words, beware of those who are too nice to you. The Bible as many examples of this wise proverb, including Judas who greeted Jesus with a kiss as he identified Jesus to be taken away to be crucified. Guess what? We do the very same thing over 2000 years later-but we ought not to be fulfilling this proverb as we have the entire Bible and the Holy Spirit in addition to a call to have godly fear of the Lord.
