Wondering what SEO Keyword Tool to choose and use? In this episode, I break down my old-school recommendations from the past version my new, current recommendation, which is AHrefs. Wondering why the show is a couple of days late? I was on vacation. Sorry for the delay. SEO Keyword Tool Show Notes The keyword tool that I have been using for a very long time was called Keyword Canine but has morphed into something new: Keyword Titan. This still works for those who were using Keyword Canine but if you don’t have access to Keyword Titan, you can check out Long-Tail Pro. This is a pretty decent tool which is worth what it costs so explains why I would recommend this if you need a traditional keyword tool. What these keyword tools usually do is that they look at a keyword and show you the list of websites which are ranking for these key words. It will analyze these websites in terms of their on-page SEOs and off page optimization. The better ones have a keyword discovery mode telling you the related keywords that you might want to target in the content that you create. Keyword tools can also give you some sense of how hard it can be to rank for the key words you choose and what that ranking would be worth. The willingness of Google to share information with these tools though has become more and more limited so the Google Adword Keyword tool has become more restrictive on the information it will give. Thereby, the value and importance of these keyword tools have changed. So what changed in the keyword market is that, these tools that analyze backlinks, like AHrefs, work backwards. They crawl up the internet and they count all the backlinks and assign authority scores to all of the pages that they index. The kind of data which AHrefs give is very impressive as they index millions of pages and they are starting to add their keyword tool to their backlink discovery tools. Some of the traditional keyword tools are going to rely on Google Adword Keyword tool for that so they will give you a lot of shorter list than what AHrefs can give you. If I am trying to decide to potentially rank for a keyword, I would want to know about the competition. There is no better tool other than AHrefs to figure out exactly what makes the competition rank where it is as you will be able to see the backlinks, what kinds of links they are getting, where exactly those links are coming from, etc. To see for yourself, go sign up and use the heck out of it during your trial period. There’s a ton of capabilities inside this tool that you will find very interesting. Big fun in Key Largo and Key West this week… Nothing better than dolphin kisses!
