He was the Stan Lee of Hong Kong comics, but his practices eventually landed him in prison. Throughout the 70s and 80s, Tony Wong produced hundreds of Hong Kong comics, or Manhua, based on his long-running franchise Little Rascals/Oriental Heroes. Despite the fact that it was an open secret that he was largely lying about how involved he was with the creation of his own comics - most of them clearly being drawn and written by ghost artists and Wong merely taking credit for them - he became the biggest name in Manhua, controlling nearly 90% of the entire market for years. In the 90s, he attempted to cross over to the US market to less success.. and eventually prison time. On this episode of Deep Cuts, we delve into the troubled and mysterious life and career of the Stan Lee of Hong Kong - Tony Wong! 01010010 01100101 01110100 01110101 01110010 01101110 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01001101 01111001 01110011 01110100 01100101 01110010 01111001 00100000 01010100 01110010 01100101 01100101 01101000 01101111 01110101 01110011 01100101 00101110 Learn more about your ad choices.
