Welcome to the York Story Slam podcast, where we feature select stories from our monthly open mic storytelling events in York, Pennsylvania.

On February 21, 14 storytellers shared their stories with our audience at Holy Hound Taproom in downtown York.

Our theme for the evening was Love Life. We heard stories about dating, relationships, love lost, appreciation for love itself, and even one about a sordid pizza delivery. It was a really great night of storytelling, and we had a difficult time choosing stories to share with you. Seems like a good time to remind you that ALL the stories from our events are posted on YouTube.

Eileen Joyce won with her story about her struggles with flirting and interpreting signals from others.

Next up is Elizabeth Erenberg. Elizabeth told us about how a bad hair day led to a big change in her love life.

Our next story comes from Quinn Snyder, who told us about how leaving his favorite sweatshirt behind at a party helped him remember how precious his own love life is. Quinn’s name was pulled right after his mom told a beautiful story about their family motto, “Love Life,” which they adopted from her late son, Justin. You can check out Quinn’s mom’s story on our YouTube page.

Our final story on this month’s podcast comes from Michael Reichman, who shared stories about his awkwardness, and where it has led him.

Just goes to show you, there are several sides to every story. We’re glad it worked out for Elizabeth and Michael.

All the winners from this year’s open mic story slam events will return to compete for the title of Best Storyteller in York. Tickets for our events are available on our website, and while you’re there, you can sign up for our monthly newsletter. You can also follow us on twitter at @yorkstoryslam, as well as on Facebook, and watch videos of all the stories from our events on our YouTube channel.
