Have you ever considered how big of an impact the transitions we go through in life can have on us? Our guest today, Bruce Feiler, is an expert on life transitions, and what he refers to as lifequakes. Friends, I have to tell you...this is one of my all time favorite interviews!

Bruce Feiler is one of America’s most popular voices on contemporary life. He is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers; the presenter of two primetime series on PBS; and the inspiration for the drama series COUNCIL OF DADS on NBC. Bruce’s two TED Talks have been viewed more than two million times. His latest book is Life is in the Transitions: Mastering Change in a Nonlinear Age.

Bruce has many incredible stories that he's sharing with us today. One of which is that he set out across the country, to all 50 states, interviewing 225 people. He wrote his latest book using these stories to talk about the rise of the nonlinear life, and to give people the tools to handle all the transitions we face.

In this episode, Bruce and I discuss:

  • How life transitions affect us and our relationsips
  • The top emotions that people struggle with during transitions
  • Voluntary vs. involuntary lifequakes
  • The 3 ways that we make meaning
  • The power of storytelling
