Listener beware! You're in for a scare! Or at least a semi-heartbreaking trip down Imagineering's memory lane which includes some of the best attractions designed that never came to fruition!
In this first part of what may turn into a multi-part series, we discuss WESTCOT CENTER at Disneyland Resort, Beastly Kingdom at Animal Kingdom, Disneyland's Enchanted Snow Palace, and Magic Kingdom's Western River Expedition!
The greatest take-away from this episode is probably that Marc Davis is not only one of the most prolific Disney Cast Members to have ever been, but also the one that got the shaft the most in terms of amazing attraction designs that were shelved. At least in this episode, he really gets the Imagineering version of the short straw!
As you listen along, check out these highlights from our recaps!
Here's a ton of photos of the plan for WESTCOT Center thanks to Yesterland.com:
Beastly Kingdom has some GREAT video content which can be seen here:
While you're here, be sure to give Beastly The Unicorn a follow!
Next stop is the Enchanted Snow Palace! Check out this amazing Marc Davis art courtesy of D23!
And finally, thanks for Passport2Dreams, we are able to take a peek at some of the great work Marc Davis did for Western River Expedition along with Robert's personal photos from D23 when they had the model on display!
In doing the research for this episode, we discovered a bevy of other attractions that never were! Is this a topic you'd like to hear us revisit? Which of these are you most disappointed about never having come to fruition? Let us know in the comments below!
