Mayor David Cassetti, Economic Development Director Sheila O’Malley and Corporation Counsel John Marini join me to give the public an update on redevelopment plans for Ansonia’s Main Street.

Press play to watch the discussion.

In June the Board of Aldermen (and the tax board) approved borrowing up to $3.1 million to finish converting a vacant office building at 65 Main St. into a police department, senior center and community space. The $3.1 million is in addition to $12 million already approved by voters in 2016.

Also in June, the city’s planning & zoning commission approved a redevelopment plan that will see market-rate apartments and retail be constructed at Palmer Building at 153 Main St. (the Palmer Building), and 497 E. Main St. (the ATP Building).

The Ansonia trio also talks about forming a Valley Development Corporation with Derby and Seymour.
