We’re covering every single blade of European football grass on today’s episode of On The Continent, as Andy Brassell is joined in the studio by Lars Sivertsen and Nicky Bandini!

We start with the recent high profile troubles at Barcelona, as Lionel Messi responded on social media to Eric Abidal’s outburst. There’s also time for a wider look at the Catalan side’s struggles over the last few seasons, as repeated signings haven’t worked out and fans intermittent fears that Lionel Messi’s final years are being wasted. Elsewhere, Roberto Soldado grabbed two goals to take Granada into the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey at the expense of Valencia, who themselves were left infuriated by VAR.

We then swing over to Germany for a look at this week’s DFB-Pokal as elite own-foot-shooters Borussia Dortmund lost 3-2 to Werder Bremen, despite a cracking debut goal from American prodigy Giovanni Reyna. There’s all that plus the virtues of shooting from impossible angles, Gennaro Gattuso’s late night whispers and the upcoming Milan derby!
