Salvation is God's gift to us. It cannot be merited, earned, or bought by any good work. It can only be received by faith in the person and finished work of Christ.
Similarly, every blessing, benefit or privilege of salvation is also God's gift to us. We cannot merit, earn, or procure them by our self-righteousness, performance, or good works.
