RECAP TIME:
Xethir wanted to resurrect his dead god, the Unbeing, to do so he needed fragments of the Unbeing’s heartstones. But our heroes were a step ahead. They realised Xethir had put to market the job of finding the heartstone fragment and they would take the job and seize the fragment.
After arriving in Sehira and finding the Analyst at the Artificer Guild reclamation yard. The dying shardwork machine told her that the Chains of Faith gripped the empire, weakening the gods, and an agent of the Chains hunted clerics like her. That agent was the Clockwork Man.
After a brutal fight with an Unnanointed scholar who had come to destroy the Analyst themselves, Freya transferred the Analyst’s soul into her God’s Lantern, and they fled to their briefing: the heartstone fragment job was about to begin.
However, the construct briefing them for the job was in fact the Clockwork man, and it revealed they were to be chaperoned on this mission by Leonitis Balren, Ora’s soon-to-be father-in-law.
Leonitis teleported then to the location the shard was hidden, Crulhoste, an ancient Bysilman facility in the Verdant range. To enter it, our heroes would have to travel deep in a deathly miasma called the voidblight.
