I’m not gonna lie, this one is personal for me. When I think back to why I started this podcast, at least at a subconscious level, it was partly because I wanted to speak out about this very topic. Many of the issues dividing “progressive” versus “traditional” believes have to do with human sexuality and gender. But as someone who grew up in the church, I believe there’s an even more fundamental problem at the core of traditional Christianity. It’s a problem I’ve thought about and have had many conversations about for years, it’s the central reason why I don’t consider myself a traditional Christian, and incidentally, it’s also a central reason why we’ve seen the explosive growth of “universalism” in recent years.

Very special thanks to my brother Eugene who was willing to engage with me in an open and respectful way on today’s episode. One of the things I absolutely love about this podcast is having a sibling and co-host who is capable of having a fun, interesting, and healthy dialogue on even thorny topics where we may disagree. Thank you brother! And as always, thank you everyone out there for listening!
