In 1983, Henry Lee Lucas was arrested in Texas for unlawful possession of a firearm. While in custody, he confessed to hundreds of murders committed in dozens of states with a partner, Ottis Toole, earning him the nickname “The Confession Killer.” Despite many of these confessions proving to be false, his story captured the public consciousness, inspiring the 1986 film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
