Rape stories are in the news all the time. A lot of them report the victim had been drinking, or was drunk. So when a SLATE reporter wrote an article telling college women not to party in order to be safe from assault, the comments hit the fan. Blaming the victim? Or ignoring the facts? One of the fallout articles was by Amanda Hess, a freelance writer, Slate blogger, and a contributor to the forthcoming Book of Jezebel. She reports on sex, Hollywood, teenagers, and technology for places like WIRED, New York Magazine, ESPN The Magazine, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, NYLON, DETAILS, and the Village Voice. She lives in Los Angeles. Join us as we has over the idea that women plus alcohol equals rape.
