“Fathers’ rights” is a term bandied about on the web, in courtrooms, and in custody hearings. It’s a term often used when discussing child support and visitation. But what about fathers’ responsibilities? And what is the difference between terminology and rhetoric and what is really happening with fathers in the world? The “State of the World’s Fathers” report was launched recently after taking a long, hard look at dads everywhere, and the results are worth talking about not just in the context of divorce and child support, but in the context of raising generations and creating healthy families. So what did the report say? Ruti Levtov, Program Officer at Promundo, co-coordinates the MenCare Global Fatherhood Campaign, producers of the report. She will join us Saturday to explain the report and share some pretty surprising findings it revealed. Ruti plays a key role in Promundo's research initiatives, including the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES). Ruti previously worked with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Maternal and Child Health Policy Research Center, and was a research fellow at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences in Mumbai. She received her MA in international comparative education at Stanford University, and her PhD in public health from the University of Michigan, where her research focused primarily on gender, violence, and schooling. Please join us to learn more about the report on the status of the world’s fathers. Call-in to share your opinions and questions at (646) 378-0430.
