IS IT THE TRUTH, A STRATEGY OR A DIRTY TRICK? The tactics abusers use in family court. Anyone who watched TV knows that courts can be a nasty place for those involved in litigation. But those who have seen Family Court cases where abusers are involved in a divorce or a custody battle, know that it can often go beyond nasty into downright terror. And that is no accident. So what tactics do abusers use in court, how do they get their lawyers to help, and why do some judges allow it? All tough questions, but Dr. Karin Huffer will help us sort it out. Karin, author of “Unlocking Justice” and “legal Abuse Syndrome,” has been a family therapist for more than 20 years, and and is an expert in PTSD and Legal Abuse Syndrome. She currently heads up the Equal Access Advocacy program at John Jay University, and has seen her share of brutal court cases. She says that too often the courts, bad judges and bad lawyers prevent a good outcome. Join us as we talk about the tricks, the strategies, and effects of abusive litigation.
