In this episode, Passive House Podcast host Matthew Cutler-Welsh interviews Graeme Verhulst, principal of Waymark Architecture. Graeme was one of the earliest adopters of Passive House design in Canada. In his conversation with Matthew, Graeme shares the story of striking out on his own, early in his architectural career, to build a Passive House practice when larger firms were still slow to embrace it. He also discusses the recent Passive House headquarters that Waymark designed for the technology firm Charter Telecom, in Victoria, British Columbia. That striking project won the 2020 Canadian Green Building Commercial/Industrial (Small) award. After the interview, Matthew and co-host Zack Semke reflect on the interview and share upcoming Passive House events and trainings: International Passive House Open Days (Nov. 6-8) Prepare a video tour of your project, participate in panel discussions, and spread the word about Passive House with your network. https://bit.ly/328McL3 Upcoming PHIUS Trainings: September 14: PHIUS CPHC Training Phase II November 2: PHIUS+ Rater Online Training November 9: PHIUS+ Verifier Online Training https://bit.ly/2R5bgfo Level Up with the PHI Passive House Fundamentals Course: Receive 6 months access to the PHI Passive House Fundamentals Course (a 20-hour course of study online) for € 95 if you register by October 8.
