Listen to Dr. Jennifer MacDonald interview Drs. Scott Richard and Rachel Danis, discussing the importance of fertility preservation for cancer patients, partnering with a reproductive endocrinology and infertility clinic (REI) to expand fertility options for future family building, and patients utilizing grant/nonprofit funding resources to financially assist with fertility treatment options.

2024-2025 SGO Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Subcommittee Lead and Moderator:
Jennifer MacDonald, PharmD, BCOP

Speakers:
Scott Richard, MD
Rachel Blair Danis, MD, MS

Potential Funding Resources:

  1. Livestrong is a nonprofit organization that helps people affected by cancer with resources, programs, and advocacy.

  2. The Chick Mission idea "hatched" when Amanda's fertility preservation coverage was denied by her insurance company. Staring down a long road of chemo, radiation and long-term drug therapy, Amanda understood the high likelihood of infertility after her treatment and decided to move forward covering the costs on her own. The idea of other patients choosing not to pursue preservation simply because of the cost barrier did not sit well - socioeconomic standing should not dictate whether anyone has an opportunity to have biological children after they battle and beat cancer.
