Experience a joy-filled dialogue between Lisa, Jenn, and Janet as they ponder four scriptures which speak of promise, confidence, hope, and joy for the second week of Advent.
The passage from Luke shows how an unknown person, John the Baptist, was called from the desert to be the courier for the King of Kings. He was a hinge, opening the way, and a voice crying in the desert, exhorting people to prepare their own hearts for the Lord.
John the Baptist was humble, as was the Savior. Humility is part of an Unbound session, along with God’s grace, as someone makes room in their heart for Jesus. There is a stillness required in seeking and knowing the Lord.
A theme through all four of the scriptures was one of joy. Jerusalem is exhorted to take off their robe of mourning and misery and put on the splendor of the glory of God, suggesting restoration. In Philippians, Paul prays with joy for those to whom he was writing. And the Psalm speaks ecstatically of the great things God has done.
The podcast closes collectively with a responsorial reading of Psalm 126 as listeners are invited to respond aloud saying, “The Lord has done great things for us! We are filled with joy!”
