On September 25, 1968, a passing motorist named Donald Haines called police after witnessing an older man lure Tali Shapiro, an 8 year old girl, into his Hollywood apartment. Tali, who was residing at the Chateau Marmont with her family, was approached by the gentleman on her way to school when he pulled up beside her in his car and asked if she needed a ride.
Police would locate the apartment where she was taken and knock on the door to find the young girl victimized and clinging to life on the kitchen floor.
Tali was in a coma for 32 days, and spent months in recovery. This would just be the beginning on a heinous crime spree by a morally bankrupt piece of shit who would terrorize multiple states and even make his was to the Dating Game as a contestant.
