Former President Barack Obama has returned to the campaign trail on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Obama will hold his first fall campaign appearance in Pennsylvania while President Trump is staging an evening rally in North Carolina, another competitive state for both campaigns. The dueling appearances come on the eve of Thursday’s final debate and with less than two weeks remaining before the November election. Three years after Donald Trump ordered a crackdown on undocumented migrants crossing into the US, lawyers are still struggling to find the parents of 545 children separated from them under the “zero-tolerance” policy, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. Pope Francis has called for the legalization of same-sex civil unions for the first time as pope, a shift from the Catholic Church’s longstanding doctrine on LGBTQ rights. Plus, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official has said the U.S. coronavirus outbreak is rapidly expanding with Covid-19 cases now growing “really in all parts of the country.”
