Innisfail, Alberta. A 23 year old quadriplegic single mother receives a package disguised as a Christmas gift on her doorstop. What happened next, and the story behind who sent this mysterious package, would stun the small community of Innisfail. * Clarification: Please note that Evan Shielke was a FORMER volunteer firefighter at the time of the incident. The media incorrectly chose to focus on this aspect when reporting on him, but he clarified with me that he actually hadn't volunteered for ten years. He greatly respects what firefighters do and wants to avoid anyone thinking the misreporting came from him. Support my sponsors: Support my sponsors! Excellent podcast, can't recommend highly enough. Detailed case analysis that doesn't stop at a guilty verdict, but always offers further information on victims and perpetrators, the impact on their lives and changes to laws and policies as a result. Also nice to hear an Australian accent for a change :)

Strange listening to an ozzie doing a Canadian true crime podcast, but she's got good pacing, and the episodes are well researched and well presented. Highly recommended.
