In this episode of Voices of the Data Economy, we spoke to Kelsie Nabben. She is a researcher in decentralized technology communities. Kelsie is interested in the human outcomes of digital infrastructure, blockchain community culture, and algorithmic governance. She has written various research papers on this topic, the recent one being “Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) as Data Trusts”.

Kelsie is a recipient of a PhD scholarship at the RMIT University Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society and a researcher in the Digital Ethnography Research Centre and Blockchain Innovation Hub. In this chat, we spoke about how principles of ‘data trusts’ might apply to DAOs as a data governance structure. We also questioned decentralized data ownership, storage, and utilization.
