Hello Intrepid leaders and welcome to another episode of the Leadership Log where we talk about navigating everyday leadership.
In this episode we are going to chatting about leading with kindness with the lovely Rebecca Aylwrad
Of course we view kindness as one quality of leadership. And, you don’t have to look very far to find many stories and articles promoting random acts of kindness. That being said unfortunately there will be many of us who have been on the receiving end of leadership approaches that are void of any kindness.
Random acts of kindness are important. But, if we want to be great leaders, maybe we shouldn’t focus so much on being random, but instead focus on the one thing great leaders intentionally practice, kindness.
Rebecca trained at the Royal London Hospital and worked at Guys Hospital London before returning to Wales. She has been a nurse for over 30 years and is passionate about nursing and strives to drive the quality agenda forward. Rebecca is now the Director of Nursing for Professional Standards, Governance and Improvement at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board.
In 2018 she won the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales Leadership award at the Royal College of Nursing Nurse of the Year awards. Rebecca is also a member of the Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholar Alumni having completed the Senior Leader Scholarship in 2020.
When not in work Rebecca is a keen runner (and will be running the London Marathon in October this year raising money for McMillan - she has already raised around 10K for this wonderful charity) and is a huge fan of 80’s music.
