This week, we delved into the Book of Colossians and uncovered some profound truths that are sure to encourage and inspire your faith.
🌟 Key Takeaways from our December 7th, 2024 Episode:
-
Inclusion and Unity in Christ: The Apostle Paul reveals that God is not just a deity for a select group, but the God of all humanity. Christ’s reconciling work on the cross brings humanity into God’s life and community, showing radical inclusivity and unity.
-
Freedom and Forgiveness: In Christ, we have been transferred from darkness into light, with all our sins forgiven. This freedom is not contingent on our efforts but has been graciously given through Jesus' sacrifice, making peace with God for all of humanity.
-
Strength in Adversity: Paul’s letters, written even while he was in chains, emphasize the power of living with joy, gratitude, and steadfast faith in Christ. His example encourages us to find courage and resilience, trusting in God’s strength to face each day’s challenges.

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL TRASCRIPT:
There's a secret that can no longer be hidden. Paul says this message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it's been revealed. Now Paul knows that god is not a tribal deity for a select few.
No. Paul now sees that the god of Israel is the God of all people. God has included all of humanity into his life and community. Paul now sees that the riches and the glory of Christ are for Gentiles too. God has come to reinhabit humanity, to restore all people to their original design. Christ will be all in all, and Christ is in you, says Paul. And he's blown away, And so should we be. God reconciled everyone to himself through Christ's death on the cross.
Christ defeated the kingdom of darkness, and he's transferred us now into his kingdom of light. He's purchased our freedom and forgiven our sins. And this isn't just a possibility for a select few who do the right things. This is what God has already done, accomplished on the cross for all, And that's why it's so radical. This is the good news. Our efforts at making peace with God were taken out of our hands and put into the hands of Jesus, and he answered on behalf of all humanity. Paul says, he made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross, and this includes you. This news of God's grace for all has changed Paul's life.
Paul never saw it this way before. This has resulted in a new reality, and that reality is this, Christ lives in you. This is the gospel truth, and Paul can't stop talking about it. Paul wants you to know what God has done and what you have become. You are his. He's transferred you from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear son. He's purchased your freedom and forgiven all your sins. He is your father too, and you are loved.
The secret's out, and it's so much better than they told us. And Paul wants you to know, and so do I. Christ lives in you. Hallelujah. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will boldly proclaim this good news as I ought, that it will fill my heart and give me joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.
TODAY'S PRAYERS:
Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.
Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen
And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
