Ignoring the declaration of God before Jacob and Esau are born that the elder would serve the younger, Isaac continually favors Esau as the firstborn. Even when he think he is going to die, Isaac tries to bless Esau but accidentally blesses Jacob. When he realizes that he has gone against God’s will, Issac trembles and then ultimately declares in faith that Isaac will be blessed as the promised one.
