In a Confucian-influenced Asian Am culture, there’s not much discussion of sisters, so we asked Anna Akana to bring all the facts and all the feels. In this podcast she candidly details how her younger sister’s suicide became the before and after moment for her identity as a sister and her transition into adulthood. And as the big sister to a generation of kids who increasingly turn to the internet for advice, we’re glad she stands as a shining beacon of vulnerability, courage, and introspection. Anna also breaks down her approaches to stand-up, YouTube content creation, and her newest book. It’s basically, the mother –or sister??– of all podcasts, because we ran that gamut.

Her book So Much I want to Tell You: Letters to My Little Sister is available on Amazon and all major book retailers. And if you want to learn more about where her next stand-up show is or her cogent thoughts on yellow fever, see the links below.
