Hey bookworms! Did you miss us? We're back with a supersized episode of My Sister's TBR, packed with bookish goodness to make up for our brief hiatus. In this episode, we're diving deep into our September reads, sharing our thoughts on the spooky Featured Read, "The Hollow Places" by T. Kingfisher, and giving you a sneak peek into what we're currently reading.

Catching Up and Bookish News

We know it's been a while since our last episode, but life threw us a few curveballs with tech issues, medical appointments, and birthday celebrations. But we're back in action now, and we're excited to chat with you about all things bookish.

First up, we've got some exciting news for fans of Freida McFadden, Colleen Hoover, and Elle Kennedy: their books are getting screen adaptations! We're also thrilled about the new J.K. Rowling illustrated book, "Christmas at Hogwarts," which is sure to be a must-have for any Harry Potter fan.

September Reads

Despite a busy month, we managed to squeeze in some fantastic reads. Stacey devoured the spooky Featured Read, "The Hollow Places," and also enjoyed the steamy Dramione fanfic "Sex and Occlumency." Rebecca ventured into the horror genre with "Giving Up the Ghost".

We also had a few reading mishaps, including a one-star horror short story that left us feeling underwhelmed. But overall, September was a month filled with diverse reads!

Featured Read: The Hollow Places

Our deep dive into "The Hollow Places" was filled with laughter, chills, and thought-provoking insights. We discussed the book's strengths, such as its unique premise and relatable characters, as well as its weaknesses, like the repetitive nature of some scenes. We also touched on the inspiration behind the story, the classic horror novella "The Willows."

Current Reads and October Preview

We're currently reading a variety of books, including "House of Sky and Breath" by Sarah J. Maas, "One House Left" by Kendall Kulper, and "Incidents Around the House" by Josh Malerman. We're also looking forward to our October Featured Read, "The Pumpkin Spice Cafe" by Laurie Gilmore, which promises a cozy autumnal vibe.
