On a recent episode, Derek Sivers mentioned that he had bought a 3D printer from Bambu Lab and it had been a game-changer for him and his son’s creativity.
Like me, Derek had previously thought that 3D printers were super expensive and required a lot of technical knowledge to work. However Bambu Lab has changed all that with their truly beginner-friendly series of 3D printers that won’t break the bank.
So, I reached out to Bambu Lab and asked if their A series printers were truly, beginner friendly and if they’d be open to the kids and I putting one of their entry level 3D printer to the test. They totally believe in their product and sent us an A1 printer set up and this week’s episode goes into what we discovered.
My key takeaways are:
* You can have a lot of fun 3D printing with the kids
* Bambu Lab have done an amazing job of making 3D printing accessible at an affordable price
* 3D printing brings a whole new lens to creativity.
Check out Bambu Lab’s A1 series of printers here.
Here is the Bambu Handy app which is used to drive the 3D printer and you can also use it to search for interesting designs that other users have made and print them yourself.
You can also search for designs to print at Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld.
You can make bespoke designs using simple templates at the MakerLab.
Again, big thank you to Bambu Lab for sending us a 3D printing setup to road test! It’s been a lot of fun.

Making signs is super easy
I was surprised to find that there is a Noface mask design on the Bambu Handy app.
Which meant we could have a lot of fun shopping on Halloween…
