I’m excited to announce I’m launching a new podcast with Dean W. Ball, a research fellow at the Mercatus Center. Every week we’ll talk to leading experts about the future of AI technology and policy.

I’ll be cross-posting the first two episodes here at Understanding AI, but most of the conversation will not be cross-posted. So if you want to listen to them, you’ll need to subscribe to the podcast directly. There are two ways to do that:

* To get episodes in your email inbox, visit www.aisummer.org and enter your email address.

* To listen with a podcast app, open your favorite app and search for “AI Summer.”

Jon Askonas is an Assistant Professor of Politics at Catholic University of America. He is well connected to conservatives and Republicans in Washington DC. In this December 16 conversation, Askonas talked to me and Dean about Silicon Valley’s evolving relationship to the Republican party, who will be involved in AI policy in the second Trump Administration, and what AI policy issues are likely to be be prioritized—he predicts it won’t be existential risk.
