It’s draft season! And we kick off their 2025 NFL Draft coverage with Part 1 of our detailed look at the edge defender class, including the wonder of Abdul Carter, Jalon Walker controversy, Mike Green and much more. Edge is the leading position in this class, and we dig into the what and whys of our individual tiers.
Abdul Carter — There is one issue with Carter that isn’t being discussed enough, could it derail him in the pros? Why are his traits so coveted at this position? How good could he be in the NFL? Does he make sense for the Titans?
Jalon Walker — Why is small sample size scouting so frustrating? Is Walker clearly more edge defender or linebacker? How do his traits stack up with what matters at the position? Could he be an every-down edge in the NFL?
Mike Green — Was Mike Green Khalil Mack-level dominant in college? Where do the holes in his game exist? Should he be thought of as a top 15 player?
Donovan Ezeiruaku — We really like Ezeriuaku, but have one concern the Combine can address. How does his length offset his mass concerns? Is there a deeper pass rush bag in this class?
JT Tuimoloau - I’m a big fan of the play demeanor and execution of Tuimoloau, while Jon has some concerns about the level of pass rush talent/skill he brings to the table.
Shemar Stewart - We are hesitant about Stewart’s NFL prospects due to his lack of football IQ, technique and mental processing. How many times does he not know what’s going on in games this season? But the traits…whew.
