In this episode, I share a lesson plan that helps students to use all three "dimensions" I see in the Elon Statement on Writing Transfer: Conceptual knowledge, practice, and metacognitive reflection. The lesson plan is about using PARC--proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast from The Non-designer's Design Book by Robin Williams. PARC is a very useful tool for helping learners with visual design in their writing. This episode also includes background information that enabled me to develop the lesson in the first place: I recommend that instructors track down important concepts they can use to frame writing for their learners (like PARC) to build a library of knowledge about writing that can inspire and inform lesson plans like this one.
