Republican Senators Who Know Better Appear to Roll Over For Trump, Poised to Confirm the Disastrous Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard
We begin with the hearings today before the Senate Intelligence Committee for Tulsi Gabbard to become the next Director of National Intelligence and before the Senate Judiciary Committee for Kash Patel to become the next Director of the FBI. Along with RFK Jr. and Peter Hegseth (not to mention Matt Gaetz) they are spectacularly unqualified for the job but they are Trump’s choices, and Republican senators who know better are behaving as supine supplicants to their “Dear Leader.” Joining us is an intelligence professional who is high on Trump’s enemies list Gregory Treverton, a senior adviser with the Transnational Threats Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a professor of the practice of international relations at the University of Southern California. He has served in government for the first Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, handling Europe for the National Security Council, and was chairman of the National Intelligence Council from 2014 to 2017. His books include Dividing Divided States and Beyond the Great Divide: Relevance and Uncertainty in National Intelligence and Science for Policy.
Rather Than Fix the FAA, Our Reality TV President Blames DEI For the Potomac Plane Crash
Then we examine the collision over the Potomac on the approach to Reagan National Airport between an Army Blackhawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional airliner that cost the lives of 67 people. We discuss Trump’s press conference at which he blamed Biden and DEI for the crash, and we look into the real problems that our reality TV president is neither capable of facing or is interested in dealing with, which involve too few overworked FAA Air Traffic Controllers and antiquated equipment. Joining us is Jeff Wise, a science journalist specializing in aviation and psychology. A licensed pilot of gliders and light airplanes, he has served as an on-camera aviation analyst on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC and his articles have appeared in New York Magazine, the New York Times, Time, Businessweek, Esquire, and many others. He is the host of the “Finding MH370” podcast.
