In this episode, Anastassia interviews Dr. Dimitry Fisher, a leading data scientist with a PhD in plasma and high-temperature physics. Dimitry delves into the intelligence of bees, explains the concept of "surprisal"--how unpredictability helps both bees and humans process information--and explores how multimodal AI could prevent catastrophic forgetting. He also addresses the evolutionary baggage of irrational fears and the potential for AI to enhance our lives while drawing parallels to sleep and memory consolidation. Tune in to gain insights from a top expert on the cutting edge of AI and neuroscience.

Dr. Fisher brings over 20 years of experience as an independent researcher and leader in both academia and industry, working on commercial, government, and academic projects. He is an expert in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, robotics, physics, and computational neuroscience. He joined Aicadium after a successful career with Brain Corporation, where he led the development of large-scale emergent vision models, R&D of sensory-motor learning and general learning and cognition algorithms for robots and AI, and conducted research into fundamental computational algorithms of the brain cortex. Dr. Fisher holds 14 US-granted patents in machine learning and robotics and has published over 40 works in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Physics from Weizmann Institute of Science. He did his postdoctoral research in Computational Neuroscience at Weizmann Institute of Science and at the University of California, Davis.
