In 1995, a uniquely ambitious independent film went into limited release, got critically panned, and receded into oblivion.
It was an anthology project, with four vignettes written and directed by four of Hollywood's top young filmmakers. One of them went on to have a very productive career. One of them went on to be a virtual legend in the industry. One of them directs TV now. One of them fizzled out.
The vignettes take place on New Year's Eve at the used-to-be-luxurious Mon Signor Hotel in Hollywood, with the through-line held together by the performance of Tim Roth as Ted the bellboy.
The ensemble cast includes Antonio Banderas, Madonna, Jennifer Beals, Marisa Tomei, Quentin Tarantino and an uncredited Bruce Willis.
It is supremely odd, often very funny, unfortunately uneven, and it has a 13% on Rotten Tomatoes ... but a 6.7 on IMDb.
So will we keep it in? Or GET THE FLICK OUTTA HERE?
