"Is the Bible literal?"

This is a question I get asked a lot…I also hear claims about the Bible being made, whether it’s literal or not.

It’s not a good question. If I’m asking this question, I can usually tell the real question that the person is trying to ask and it’s one of these questions:

Is the content of the Bible meant to be taken literally?

Did everything in the Bible really happen… is it real?

Is the content of the Bible true?
