On Episode 112 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome back Lynn, MA hip-hop artist Suriel back to the show, for his first in-person appearance on the podcast.
Suriel recently released a mixtape exclusively on his website titled ‘The Turning Point’, which is a call back to the glory days of the hip-hop mixtape era. Suriel discusses his reasoning behind not dropping the tape on streaming platforms, and the unique ways in which independent artists are trying to get their art through to fans in an era of over-saturation. Suriel also talks about an upcoming EP he is dropping later this year titled ‘The Shelter Tape’, an homage to struggles of his youth days living in a shelter home.
Suriel also reflects on two huge performances he recently had, the first being an opening act for The Lox’s recent 30-year anniversary tour at Roadrunner in Boston, as well as being enlisted to Termanology’s 978 Show.
