Conflict shouldn't produce a trauma response, but it so often does. If you find yourself fighting back like a vigilante hero, caving in while you silently stew, or running away from the issue (and people), you need to develop some better skills. Listen in to learn more.
- We all have different ways of responding to conflict based on how comfortable we are with encountering it. When it feels adversarial, a healthy response is hard to summon.
- When we believe in something, it's difficult not to get emotionally attached and feel personally attacked when that cause isn't accepted by others.
- Collaborative conflict handling helps to move past assumptions about the other party and move towards a better understanding of the issues underlying a position taken.
- The goal is to arrive at a solution that allows the best that can happen, not the best in your opinion.
