Episode 247 of bookcareers.com Live – Inclusivity in Practice with Simon Holt
We’ve had lots of chats about inclusivity, but what does it look like in practice? In this episode of bookcareers.com Live we talk to Simon Holt, who leads content accessibility at Elsevier and ensures content is accessible for all.
Simon discusses his career path as a visually-impaired person working successfully in publishing. He talks about what has been done so far within the industry and what we still need to achieve. We discuss the prejudices and resistance you may find and how to overcome these. We also talk about reasonable adjustments, what these are and when you should ask for them in the recruitment process.
Overall, we have an extended discussion about what accessibility means and how all of us can put it into practice.
