Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials
The TARDIS landed on Disney+ just in time for a special three episode 60th anniversary special. Fan Favorite Doctor, David Tennant, returned as the Fourteenth Doctor.
Since 1963, the Doctor, a regenerating alien known as a Time Lord, has zipped through time and space with trusty Earth companions in the iconic TARDIS. Saving the universe time and time again. These three-episode specials are meant as a tribute to those 60 years. The three specials, titled “The Star Beast”, “Wild Blue Yonder” and “The Giggle” will reunite the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Temple-Noble (Catherine Tate) as they come face-to-face with a villain from the past: the Toymaker (played by Neil Patrick Harris in his Doctor Who debuts).
The special also introduced fans to the 15th Doctor. Who fans will formally meet during the Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Church on Ruby Road.” Arriving on December 25th (9:55 am PT / 12:55 pm ET). The special marks a new era for the Time Lord with Ncuti Gatwa taking over as the Fifteenth Doctor, joined by Millie Gibson as his latest companion, Ruby Sunday.
Produced by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, “The Church on Ruby Road” promises to be an exciting new adventure for veteran Whovians (Doctor Who Fans) and those new to the show. The 60th Anniversary Specials – “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder,” and “The Giggle” – are currently streaming on Disney+.
