When was Abraham a general?
Abram in Egypt was a man of no faith, depending on his own wisdom to keep himself safe. Back in the promised land, Abram was a man of great faith, building altars to the Lord and offering Lot his choice of the land. But when Lot's choice to live by sight and not by faith leads to his captivity by the kings of the east, Abram's trust in God for his own safety will be put to the test.
This week we begin studying Genesis 14 and the time Abram led a rescue mission to save Lot. We'll learn the circumstances of Lot's capture and see the kind of trust Abram had that would lead him to risk his life to save his family. And we'll examine our own faith to see how much we are willing to put on the line to do the right thing.
