Many contemporary models of the Big Bang from The Hartle Hawking model to Loop Quantum Cosmology to String Gas Comsology, the Janus Universe, Carroll Chen, Aguirre-Gratton, and CPT symmetric universe, can be interpreted as giving the universe an hourglass-like structure.
