Woolworths shareholders have rejected a plan that would have forced the company to stop taking farmed salmon from a Tasmanian harbour, that is the only habitat of an endangered species of ray.

Macquarie Harbour - on Tasmania's west coast - is home to the last few dozen adult Maugean Skates - but it's also home to Tasmania's salmon industry, that produces around 9-and-a-half thousand tonnes of farmed salmon every year.
